Apple Announces iOS6

Yesterday, Apple kicked off their annual WWDC conference in San Francisco.  They had a lot to reveal, but one of the things that affects most people is the details surrounding iOS6.  They have made a lot of changes including kicking Google Maps to the curb.  Get all the details after the break.

The biggest news about iOS6 in my mind is the fact that Apple has partnered with TomTom to provide the new map/GPS system.  It will provide audio turn by turn directions, a pretty sweet looking “flyover” feature of the place you’re looking at, and is fully designed by Apple.

Siri has grown up a little bit and will now be able to help you with sports scores, movie information, and even Yelp details.  Not only that, but Siri will make an appearance on the iPad HD!

Tired of carrying around coupons and tickets?  Well, the new iOS introduces an app called Passbook.  It will cover movie tickets, plane tickets, membership coupons, etc.  It also has alerts for when coupons you have expire.

Next, it seems like Apple is taking a page from Windows Phone and integrating Facebook into iOS more.  With FB integration into maps, games, and instant access to your pictures it makes it easier for people to stalk you!

Finally, one of the larger changes is that you will now be able to use FaceTime without a WiFi signal.  You’ll be able to use your cell service to talk to mom and perform all those naughty things you do with your significant other.

For more information about these features and the other fun things coming to iOS6 check out Apple’s website using the link below.
