Microsoft will be holding a press conference in just a few short minutes. There have been no announcements of what the subject matter will be. There were rumors of news about a project between Barnes & Noble and Microsoft, but that has already been shot down by the book retailer. The front runner in the rumor mill is that Microsoft will be unveiling some Windows 8 Tablets. I’ll update this post as it happens after the break.
7:58PM – And that’s a wrap. Thanks for joining us and a huge thanks to Engadget for their live stream and pictures.
7:57PM – Standard will be available around Win 8 Launch. Pro will be 3 Months later
7:56PM – Pro will come in 64GB and 128GB models. There was a hint at price for “comparable models” but we’ll wait and see
7:55PM – Tablet will come in 32GB and 64GB models
7:51PM – Touch Cover has an accelerometer built in
7:50PM – Surface Tablet attachment acquires the color of the attachment.
7:45PM – Talking about ergonomics
7:39PM – Surface Type Cover announced! Extremely thin!
7:33PM – Full HD display but minimum battery life usage
7:30PM – Cover contains a keyboard
7:28PM – Uses Gorilla Glass 2
7:28PM – Built in Stand for the tablet
7:25PM – Talking about apps and such. Looks like when Apple announced iPad. A giant Windows Phone, but it’s Windows 8.
7:25PM – Weighs a little under 1.5 pounds
7:24PM – Confirmed! The announcement is a Windows 8 Tablet
7:22PM – Holding a tablet looking device…This is the new MS Surface
7:20PM – It could go either way…Tablet or Xbox
7:16PM – Adding another Windows 8 product, focused on hardware.
7:14PM – Windows 8 Discussion and Ballmer looks angry.
7:13PM – Ok looking Windows focused
7:07PM – And it begins now…
7:03PM – Judging from the color theme it’s probably something Windows 8 related. I expect an Oprah moment where everyone in the crowd has something under their seat.
6:56PM – Still waiting. I would love for this to be a press conference about the next gen gaming system personally. It wouldn’t surprise me since an event like this after E3 would give them a whole lot more exposure. Tablets are the rumored focus, but since B&N said they’re not a part of this you never know.
6:46PM – I’ll be relying on other websites like Engadget and Gizmodo for info since we didn’t get an invite and there is no stream. From what they’re saying people are still waiting in line.
