Why Windows Phone 8 Might Hurt Microsoft Initially

Yesterday, Microsoft held a press conference and preview event for Windows Phone 8 and dropped a pretty big bomb.  With a whole lot of new features, the key feature everyone is talking about is that it will not work with current Windows phones.  While current Windows phone owners will get a 7.8 upgrade with a few of the enhancements, it only covers about a third of them.  Chris and I had a mini twitter debate on this and we will definitely cover it during the podcast this weekend.  This is a pretty big deal and I’ll discuss my thoughts after the break. Has Digg Reached Its Peak?

I have always been a big fan of Digg, especially during it’s infant stage of the Kevin Rose launch.  Today I realized, I think Digg has either reached its peak or it just provides less value.  I’m only writing this because of my experience with Digg recently and promoting some stories from our site.  Digg has always been a way for unknown sites to promote their posts, and in most cases, it has provided people with posts from unknown blogs/websites to gain some exposure. Microsoft Holding a Press Conference at 6:30PM Eastern *Live Updates*

Microsoft will be holding a press conference in just a few short minutes.  There have been no announcements of what the subject matter will be.  There were rumors of news about a project between Barnes & Noble and Microsoft, but that has already been shot down by the book retailer.  The front runner in the rumor mill is that Microsoft will be unveiling some Windows 8 Tablets.  I’ll update this post as it happens after the break. Macbooks Purchased Between 2009-2011 Have an Issue

This past week I encountered an issue with my 13″ Macbook.  The rubber bottom started to peel away from the rest of the computer.  After some google searching I found out this was a widespread issue!  Apple knows of this problem and has a solution for those effected by this.  You can either take it to an Apple store to be fixed for free or do it yourself.  I opted to do it myself.  I got my kit today (for free) and the instructions are fairly simple, but I haven’t done it yet due to laziness.  However, if you have a Macbook created/purchased between 2009 and 2011 this can solve your problem.  Just visit Apple’s support website here.  This will allow you to do order a kit to do it on your own or direct you to an Apple store.

Because All You Need is Ass

I’m posting this because the technology behind it is geeky.  However, the overall theme is a little creepy.  Who cares about touch screen phones, kinect, and PS Move.  There is a new robotic ass which responds to touch.  No, it’s not dirty and you cant be a perv and have sex with it.  The goal of this project is the technology to respond to pokes, slaps, and more.  So if you ever feel the need to see, poke, or slap a robtic ass…this is for you.

Good News! NECA Announces Co-Op Portal Gun

Yes, I’ve been talking an awful lot about Portal replicas lately.  I love Portal what can I say?  If you missed out on the previous 5000 replicas, NECA has something new for you.  They will be producing 5000 replicas of P-Body’s Portal Gun.  This gun will light up with orange and red and has yellow racing stripes on the back.  They’ll announce the official retailers next week, but you can expect ThinkGeek will sell them.  For more pictures and video check out NECA’s blog post.

NECA has More in Store for Portal Fans *Updated*

As much as I would like to inform you all that tomorrow starts a new day of consumer purchases of the portal gun…I can not.  However, NECA has brought up a few times that on 5/9/2012 they will most likely be announcing something portal related.  It could vary anywhere from more portal guns beyond the 5000 they initially sold to replica portal mirrors.  Personally, since I got a portal gun I want a mount for my GladOs potato but I’m not opposed to something else that is awesome.  I just want to make sure everyone is on their toes for the announcement. After all…it’s for SCIENCE!
