This is a little behind, but since Doctor Who is starting again this weekend I felt like I should inform you. If you don’t know, BBC is running a 5 part mini-series online leading up to the first episode of Doctor Who called “Pond Life”. The series is 5 brief minute long shorts showing some of the shenanigans that happens when we’re not watching. Tomorrow will be the last webisode…so if you’re a Doctor Who fan go check them out! The first installment is above.
The BBC blog has announced the official return date of the Doctor will be Saturday, September 1st 2012. The beloved series returns with opening episode “Asylum of the Daleks” to get the ball rolling.
If you’re like me the wait for the Doctor can seem like forever so starting Monday, August 27 and continuing through the week the BBC will begin showing “The Pond Life”. Not much is known about the 5 part mini-series at the moment but the BBC blog had this to say.
Featuring the Doctor, Amy and Rory, this five-part mini-adventure premieres on this site at noon on Monday with parts 2-5 stripped daily across the week. Written by Chris Chibnall and directed by Saul Metzstein, the omnibus version of Pond Life will be shown on the BBC’s Red Button on Saturday, 1st September.
Chris Chibnall commented, ‘Pond Life provides us with a lovely opportunity to catch-up with Amy and Rory since we saw them at the end of the last series. It opens with the Ponds at home and gives us an insight in to just what happens when the Doctor drops in and out of their lives. Travelling with the Doctor is one of the greatest things you can do, but it’s fun to spend a few moments looking at the chaos he can also bring.’
Caroline Skinner, Executive Producer, said ‘Chris has written a beautiful, heartfelt and wickedly funny piece about the adventures the Ponds have been having with the Doctor since we last saw them on-screen. It’s not long till the series itself will be back with a vengeance – but in the meantime, Pond Life is a truly heart-warming piece about our best-loved companions and their madcap relationship with their raggedy Doctor.’
“The Pond Life” sounds like an excellent lead in to the new series and I cannot wait to see the new adventures of the Doctor and co.
In the middle of the night last night, the BBC and BBC America released the first trailer for the upcoming series of Doctor Who. It’s 90 seconds long and full of Daleks, a baby weeping angel, and my personal favorite of dinosaurs on a space ship. I just can’t contain how excited I am for this.
I have been fighting the urge to watch Adventure Time for a while now. I saw a little bit of one episode and thought it was entertaining, but it also left me thinking I would get addicted if I started to watch more episodes. After watching the above trailer, along with a glowing endorsement from Annette, I may just have to start. What do you think about this trailer and the show?
I love The Walking Dead with the exception of Carl and Lori. I have not read the comics yet, but it’s on my to do list after a few others. Today at Comic Con, AMC revealed the first trailer for Season 3 of the series and it looks very impressive! Much more interesting than the first half of Season 2. The new season starts on October 14th and I can’t wait! Enjoy!
I was browsing my twitter feed a little while ago when I saw a frightening post. The wonderful folks at Nerdist just did a write up about Cartoon Network canceling the current Thundercats series. This is sad news because the new rendition of the show is very entertaining. I missed most of the first season, but the current season has become part of my weekly watching schedule. There is a petition online to try and save the show. It is highly possible considering the outcry of fans who enjoyed Toonami got Cartoon Network to bring back a new rendition of the cartoon block. Head over to Nerdist using the link below to read the whole story and if you enjoy the show sign the petition.
There isn’t much to this post except for one thing. I’m watching Cartoon Network right now for my Saturday dose of Anime goodness. What do I see? OMG TOONAMI! Last time I wrote about this it was an April Fools joke, but this time it’s real. There is new anime, the same wonderful lead in/commecial content, and TOM. I believe this is in response to the April Fools joke so everyone watch and help keep it alive! Long Live Toonami!
Last night was an amazingly bittersweet event. Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim was taken over by Toonami. I remember the Saturday Nights I would stay up way to late watching anime like Gundam, Outlaw Star, Tenshi Muyo, and more. Tom even did a review for Mass Effect 3! My first reaction was, “OMG It’s back!” However, looking at the guide on my screen revealed it did not match what was actually being played. This is on par with their normal April Fools jokes like showing The Room. Sorry everyone, it was a one night only event. Check out the Mass Effect 3 review from Tom after the break. I’m not a huge fan of Comcast personally, but they are a necessary evil for where I live. I turned on my Xbox tonight to finally start The Darkness II and decided to install the newly released app and see what it’s all about. I was not shocked at all when I logged in and got the message pictured above. Bravo Comcast!
If you listened to this weeks podcast, you heard us talking about Avatar: The Legend of Korra. Well, Nickelodeon has put the first episode(s) online for everyone to enjoy. I’d write more about it, but I’m in a rush to go watch this. Why are you still here? GO! WATCH!
