The next batch of single player DLC for the hit game Mass Effect 3 has just received an official release date via the @Bioware twitter handle. The DLC will be available for download on Xbox 360, PS3, PC’s on August 28th 2012 with European PS3 players joining in the following day of August 29th.

Early details of the Leviathon DLC indicate Shepard will be hunting down and possibly allying with a rouge Reaper. Bioware also released a batch of new wallpapers to celebrate the release.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Goes Free To Play

Today EA announced that the Bioware created MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic, will be going free to play this fall.  Players will be able to enjoy the game up to level 50 with a few restrictions.   The restrictions prevent players from accessing new content and some advanced player features, not sure what those are yet, but some of the restrictions can be unlocked by using Cartel Coins.  No specific date was given, but it is coming.  I haven’t played an MMO for quite some time, but I may just have to try this out.

An Open Letter to Bioware

Dear Bioware,

It took me a long time to really dive into the Mass Effect games.  To be honest, I played through one and two shortly before three came out and I loved every second of it.  I may have been one of the few people to accept the ending(s) of Mass Effect 3 despite a few lingering questions.  However, you have answered the mass amount of fans who were not happy with the ending(s) you provided and have graced us with updated content to give us fans closure.  This is what I have to say. Mass Effect 3′s Highly Demanded Extended Ending

If you listened to our latest podcast we did discuss Mass Effect 3, all agreeing on the sheer fact of anticipating even more nerd rage because this new extended ending yet will never satisfy the cries of thousands, if not millions who feel betrayed, ripped off, exploited and abandoned with the popular Bioware series coming to a close. Personally, I feel these out cries will never be soothed unless Shepard gets one last chance to embark on saving the universe in a continuing, Mass Effect 4. Highly doubtful, but perhaps tomorrow we all get the ending we want! Here’s a few notes I’ve added to what I would like to see happen in this extended ending. Continue reading

New Mass Effect Artwork Coming to BioWare Store

Everyone who reads this site and listens to the podcast should know by now that we are huge fans of Mass Effect.  BioWare teased upcoming limited edition lithographs a week or so ago and they just tweeted the release date and time.  The two lithographs will be a Prothean and Anderson.  I personally want the Prothean because it just looks bad ass.  They’ll be released on Friday and I’d better get one!

Star Wars Patch 1.2: Legacy

Star Wars began like Corona without a lime, or salad without dressing.  It had all of the elements of a good massive multiplayer without the flavor I expected from the game.  My faith hasn’t fallen for Bioware, they make great games and even more importantly, if their game falls short Bioware fixes the issue.  So finally patch 1.2 for Star Wars The Old Republic is nearly here.  Blizzard must be scratching their heads at how such a massive patch was achieved so quickly, as they play with their new dolls of pandas…

The patch for SWTOR is called “Legacy” because of the legacy system finally coming to life.  If you haven’t already heard of it, I’ll school you in a quick overview.  Imagine a system that not only rewards you for playing a character, but it rewards every character you have, whether Republic (eew) or Sith (Thumbs up).  The more different characters and races you have, the more legacy bonuses and rewards you can unlock that works with each character!  Unfortunately, if you have characters on different servers, you are out of luck… for now.  It only works on the server the characters are on!  No one cares if you play on multiple servers anyways dude.

Here is the legacy system in action thanks to Duffy at mmosite.com

I guess I should also mention that this content patch is huge! Oh, I did… but anyways, it’s huge!  More end game content… pvp and pve balancing fixes, guild banks, legacy, gui upgrades and custimaztion, a tauntaun ram pet (I can’t help that I like collecting cute things), a new flashpoint continuing the Kaon Under Siege storyline, a new Operation (FINALLY), and a new war zone that allows players of the same or opposite faction to play against each other.  Ya, I know I just summed that all up in one run-on sentence…what of it?

Special Edition: Mass Effect Podcast

Mass Effect was a great video game series…It was essentially a giant “Choose Your Own Adventure” story with a huge focus on getting the player wrapped up in the story.  There were tons of relationships to form, decisions to be made, and sacrifices to make and they all led to this…The End.

With all of that said take a listen to our Special Edition Podcast about Mass Effect 3 and some intertwining discussion about the whole series in general.
