Apple iPad 3 Announcement – March 7th

Apple has finally announced when they will be revealing the new iPad.  After several months of speculation, rumors, and leaks we will finally be privy to the details.  Personally, I’ve been waiting to get an iPad until the retina display rolled out and it looks like I’ll finally get my wish.  Apple will be holding their press event on March 7th.

In the future we will travel in tubes…

I have a love/hate relationship with concept work. On the one hand it’s an amazing look at the possibility of what could be. Throwing physics and real world constraints out the window means that the only limits are usually your imagination. Then the other shoe drops and you realize that the actual “thing” will never be as awesome as the concept.

Case in point this amazing iPad 3 video from Aatma Studio.

This is the kind of use case that comes to mind when I think of something as futuristic. From the edge to edge display, effortless use and interoperability with companion devices this screams future tech. The holographic gaming with projected controls is the kinda stuff we dreamed of as kids and are still hungrily waiting for as adults.

Let’s face it we’ve all wanted holo chess since we learned why you always let a wookie win. I’d go so far as to say we all need Star Wars holo chess in our lives, and If you don’t want that then you can stay the hell outta my future.

Come March 6th I’ll take back Earth at home and on the go!

So Mass Effect Infiltrator is launching alongside Mass Effect 3 next week and I personally can’t wait. I’m a huge Mass Effect fan and will take more of it anyway I can get it. On a related note the game ties back into your console based ME experience by relying on EA’s Origin service. I don’t particularly like the idea of services like Origin or Online passes but can understand there value. After playing the new SSX (great game) and seeing how the service is leveraged to help create a cross platform experience with consoles and iOS I figure it can’t be all bad.
