Today at Comic Con, Microsoft announced a new limited edition Halo 4 Console.  This edition comes with a Halo 4 Themed 320 GB console, two limited edition controllers, a standard version of Halo 4, a wired headset, and tokens for Halo themed avatar items from Xbox Live.  The light around the Xbox power button, as well as the guide button on the controller, will glow blue instead of the standard green.  The console itself will retail for $399.99 and is available for pre order now, but releasing on November 6th .  The controllers will also be sold separately for $59.99 and should be available towards the end of October.  A few shots of the controller and the packaging of the Xbox are after the break. Why Windows Phone 8 Might Hurt Microsoft Initially

Yesterday, Microsoft held a press conference and preview event for Windows Phone 8 and dropped a pretty big bomb.  With a whole lot of new features, the key feature everyone is talking about is that it will not work with current Windows phones.  While current Windows phone owners will get a 7.8 upgrade with a few of the enhancements, it only covers about a third of them.  Chris and I had a mini twitter debate on this and we will definitely cover it during the podcast this weekend.  This is a pretty big deal and I’ll discuss my thoughts after the break. New Way to Earn Xbox Live Rewards from Achievements This Fall

I have been a member of Xbox Live since it was in the beta stages on the original Xbox.  Hence why my gamer tag is of an Anime character from the series Blue Seed.  I was watching that at the time because the series was first released in a DVD Box set.  So when the Microsoft came out with Xbox Live Rewards I signed up instantly.  Well, today Microsoft released a interesting little tidbit about an upcoming way you can earn more reward points.  Achievements!  Yes, to mark the achievement of @xboxliverewards gaining 50k followers they released this tease.

We’ve hit 50,000 followers, which means it’s time for an announcement! Coming Fall: a new way to earn Rewards based on your Achievements!

No details, just that.  It’s still an interesting thought…especially since I’m an achievement whore.

Microsofts big reveal: The Surface

Well folks we can all finally take off our collective rumor hats as the much discussed Microsoft press conference has concluded. Boy were they not kidding when they said it’d be big.

Microsoft historically known as a software provider who licenses out it’s platform to OEM’s has reveled a first party tablet called The Surface.

Microsoft Holding a Press Conference at 6:30PM Eastern *Live Updates*

Microsoft will be holding a press conference in just a few short minutes.  There have been no announcements of what the subject matter will be.  There were rumors of news about a project between Barnes & Noble and Microsoft, but that has already been shot down by the book retailer.  The front runner in the rumor mill is that Microsoft will be unveiling some Windows 8 Tablets.  I’ll update this post as it happens after the break. New Halo 4 Images Make Cortana Look Sad

You may or may not know this about me, but Halo is one of my all time favorite game franchises.  Back in my industry days Microsoft even had me dress up as Master Chief for the release of Halo 3.  Yeah, Halo 2 was kind of a disappointment but it was still fun to play through.  Well, along with todays announcement of a Halo 4 Limited Edition, Microsoft released a few new snazzy screenshots of the campaign and multi-player.  Cortana really looks sad…I think she needs a virtual hug.  Check out the new screenshots in the gallery below.

Halo 4 Release Date Will Dominate Over Presidential Election

Gamers are probably going to be a little too busy to vote this year.  It was just confirmed that Halo 4 is going to be released on November 6th 2012.  This is the first game in the new trilogy which has no affiliation with Bungie.  Hopefully, this will be showcased at E3 in June.  I can’t wait to see more of this.
