JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Announced with Screen Shots

Add another anime to the list of ones that I’ve never heard of.  Today, Capcom sent out an official announcement (with screenshots) of the upcoming game JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure HD Ver.  This 2d fighter is based off of the anime series with the same name.  The game was apparently released on the Dreamcast 8 years ago and has been remade into an HD Xbox Live/PSN release.

The games online matchmaking will utilize the same type of system as  Super Street Fighter IV and Marvel Vs Capcom 3.  You will earn battle points for individual characters and player points for yourself through your fights.  These points will be utilized to help increase player skill and move up through the leader boards.

The cool new online feature will allow an 8 player multiplayer lobby allowing players to host fights with two players and the other 6 watching.  Then, if you win, the loser is left to watch and the next player joins in.  You will also be able to record and share fights to gloat or have yourself laughed at.  JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure HD Ver will be released on Aug 21st through PSN for $19.99 and Aug 22nd on Xbox Live for 1600 MSP.  Screen shots are after the break. New Okami HD Images Surface

A couple of days ago Capcom announced that the wonderful game Okami would be coming to PSN.  Last night, Annette shared the trailer for everyones viewing pleasure.  Today, I’m proud to bring you a bunch of screenshots Capcom was nice enough to share.  Enjoy!

Exclusive Okami HD Release For PS3

One of the most beautiful, heart warming games I have luckily gotten the chance to play is coming to PSN, November 1st, 2012. Surprisingly, this game falls into the category of a cult classic due to poor sales. Why such low sales? Okami is rated 9 out of 10 on IGN. Could it be because the theme wasn’t surrounded by zombies or post apocalyptic survival? Perhaps, the style of the game was not mainstream enough with all of those regurgitated fps high ranked titles? Regardless the reasoning why this diamond in the rough hasn’t fully obtained the recognition I feel it deserves you can finally get a chance to experience Okami in HD. Mind you this is a Playstation exclusive! Be sure to have the PS Move since that is the only way to be able to control the celestial brush.

Can I just take a second and gush over how visually appealing this game is? The animated ink illustration, with watercolor and wood cut style environment. It really is nothing like any other game out on the market. So why isn’t Okami raising the bar for Capcoms competitors? With such a unique look, battle system, beautifully composed soundtrack and one of my favorite stories you would be absolutely crazy not to give this game a try.

PS One Classics coming to PS Vita

Sony has just announced that starting this summer PS One Classics will be playable on the PS Vita. Better yet this will kick off with fan favorites Tomb Raider and, wait for it… Final Fantasy VII! This is great news for the struggling handheld and should provide a much needed incentive for some of us “nostalgic” gamers to give the platform a shot. I picked up Legend of Dragoon when it launched on PSN awhile back and would love to have that experience on the go.

Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock Monsters Trailer

IGN has posted a video featuring a look at the major monsters you’ll be facing off against in the upcoming game Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock by SuperMassive Games. The video gives you a good look at not only the ever-present threat of the Daleks, but also Salurians, the Silence and the Cybermen. They also let drop the time periods you’ll be visiting over the course of the game. While the game has been moved back from its original March release to April and now (fingers crossed) May, I’m no less excited to have a go as the Doctor and River in this adventure.

The animation of the Salurians is especially nice looking with that very creepy predatory head motion of theirs. The Daleks sound spot on and the Cybermen still seem to be complete jerks. The game will be releasing on PSN for both the Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita with a physical release only in Europe.

Skull Girls Available For PSN And XBLA

This 2D fighting game has been getting great reviews, IGN rating it an overall 8.5. The plot being surrounded by nine girls who are all trying to obtain the Skull Heart. The arena ranges from one-on-ones to three-on-threes. Brings back memories of Tekken Tag, anyone else remember that game? Skull Girls has an online/offline option, training mode and the traditional arcade mode. Even though it is low on content you can of course purchase a few extra characters through DLC. The animation and music are a great part of what makes this a must have. The art style is gorgeous, one of the reasons I was originally drawn to the game. Released April 1oth on PSN in North America and April 11th for XBLA worldwide for a reasonable price of $14.99.

Looks as if regional tournaments dates for SK have been posted earlier this month. Great way to support your local fighting game community. Further information is in the link below.

Legend Of Dragoon For PSN

The wait is finally over, next month on May 1 PSN will be adding Legend of Dragoon for purchase. No more trying to salvage old scratched discs or kicking that dusty PS One to jump start the title screen for your favorite classic RPGs. After Chrono Trigger hit PSN I knew it was only a matter of time till LOD was up for grabs.

Shu Yoshida talks a bit about the game development.

The Legend of Dragoon was one of the last projects I worked on as a producer in Japan Studio and by far the biggest team I managed hands-on. We started the project in 1996 with only a handful of people, hired one by one as we were building up teams for Ape Escape, The Legend of Dragoon, and Icosimultaneously. During the peak of the game’s development, we had well over 100 people working internally in the studio on The Legend of Dragoon — for a PSone game! “

Resident Evil 6 Early Release

All I have to say is, thank you Capcom. Looks as if they feel mercy upon us, letting the torturous wait be shorted to an early release date of October 2, 2012.  It’s only April, I’m not counting the days…yet.

Luckily we won’t have to even wait for October to get a peek at what’s to come as Chris and Leon fight back a global outbreak. The demo will be released on  Xbox Live Marketplace and Playstation Network on September 5, 2012. It seems being part of the Microsoft fan club you’ll get an opportunity of accessing the demo 60 days early, which will be included in the with the Xbox 360 version of Dragon’s Dogma. You’ll be able to play the demo a few months from now, to be more specific July 3, 2012.

New Marvel tables for Pinball FX 2

Marvel has just released a new trailer for Pinball FX 2 featuring tables with themes for the upcoming Avengers film, The Infinity Gauntlet, Fear Itself, and World War Hulk story lines.

Just like previous releases, the new tables continue to showcase characters reeking havoc and battling it out in response to your gameplay. With prior tables focusing on single characters or teams I’m excited to see the broader direction story lines will take. Hulk smashing The Thing, Nick Fury and Thor, not to mention Adam Warlock and Silver Surfer just may be enough to finally make me pick Pinball FX 2 back up again. Now if they would just release a Guardians of the Galaxy table I could never go outside again.

Rocket Racoon forever!
