Playstation All-Stars: Battle Royale

Here is a demonstration from the E3 Sony press conference for a new release that might give Super Smash Bros a run for their money. All-Stars: Battle Royale is a fighting game based on gaining points by doing combos within a certain amount of time. It does have a lot of similarities to Nintendos Smash Bros, as you can see from the video. Each arena is from a different Playstation game, for the demonstration they are battling in the PS Classic, God of War. It’ll be available for PS Vita and Playstation 3. Some of the characters you can choose from include, Fat Princess, Parappa The Rappar, Sly Cooper, and Sweet Tooth. Think this is will be a flop or replace Nintendo’s version?

Assassins Creed III Liberation for PS Vita

Assassins Creed III Liberation has been unveiled for the PS Vita. The game takes place in New Orleans and looks incredible when you consider that this is a handheld game. In this installment you’ll be taking control of a female assassin named Aveline and she looks to be just as badass as Altaïr and Ezio of previous games. Though edited together the footage does seem to reflect actual gameplay, and happily there don’t seem to be any compromises to the movement and play style we’ve come to expect. I can’t wait for this to hit Vita on October 30th.

Legend Of Dragoon For PSN

The wait is finally over, next month on May 1 PSN will be adding Legend of Dragoon for purchase. No more trying to salvage old scratched discs or kicking that dusty PS One to jump start the title screen for your favorite classic RPGs. After Chrono Trigger hit PSN I knew it was only a matter of time till LOD was up for grabs.

Shu Yoshida talks a bit about the game development.

The Legend of Dragoon was one of the last projects I worked on as a producer in Japan Studio and by far the biggest team I managed hands-on. We started the project in 1996 with only a handful of people, hired one by one as we were building up teams for Ape Escape, The Legend of Dragoon, and Icosimultaneously. During the peak of the game’s development, we had well over 100 people working internally in the studio on The Legend of Dragoon — for a PSone game! “

Bring This To America: Steins;Gate

Unless you are fluent in Japanese there are a good number of games your are missing out on. One of those being, Steins;Gate. Not sure what I’m talking about but the name sounds familiar? This title comes in a few different mediums, starting off as a Japanese visual novel developed by 5pb. The game was released on Xbox 360 October 15, 2009. It appeared a port for Windows PC and Sony’s PSP version was released the following year, June 23,2011. Eventually the port for Playstation 3 is to be released May 24, 2012.  Story details and info after the break… Continue reading

Final Fantasy X is Getting Remastered

Last year Square Enix announced the remake for their wildly successful Final Fantasy X, which first appeared on the Playstation 2.  The re-release will signify the games tenth year anniversary.

Final Fantasy X was the first Final Fantasy game to replace the active time battle (ATB) with a new turn-based system, feature voice acting, introduce a new leveling system, and the first in the series to have a direct sequel with dancing pop stars (oh la la!) due to its popularity.

Other than clearing up a rumor about the game being a remake, no new information has been reported since the announcement last September during Sony’s Tokyo Game Show press conference.  Turns out it’s going to be remastered in HD, leaving people in question of a future release date. The remaster will be available for PS Vita and Playstation 3.

Like other Square Enix games I will be anxiously awaiting more information. Hopefully this post will indulge you for the time being.

Next Playstation to be Named Orbis

Kotaku has posted some details from an “insider” at Sony about their next system.  The main point is that it’s either codenamed or named Orbis.  While a lot of people will speculate something from the name, I have no interest in doing so.  It’s a name…Unless it was named Playstation Holographic Gaming System.  Then I would speculate something. Anyway, there are also some other details about the system that were hinted at and they are listed below.

  • Rumored release date will be holiday 2013
  • No PS3 backwards compatibility
  • Games will be locked to a PSN ID to prevent used games
  • System contains an AMD x64 CPU and AMD Southern Island GPU
